Kingfisher with Agarwal Law, Manu Singhvi loses in SC appeal to UBI, advised by Verus, Rohatgi
Kingfisher Airlines, advised by Agarwal Law Associates, lost in the
Supreme Court yesterday after its special leave petition against last week’s Calcutta high court order, as reported by Legally India,
was dismissed in the beleaguered operator’s wilful default battle with
the United Bank of India (UBI). UBI was advised by Verus Advocates.
Kingfisher,
represented in court by senior advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi and
Parag Tripathi instructed by Agarwal partner Mahesh Agarwal, had sought
urgent relief against the Calcutta HC order, which had disallowed its
request to use legal representation in UBI’s wilful default proceedings
against it.
But since UBI yesterday also held a committee
meeting, which Kingfisher did not attend and which declared Kingfisher
and its directors as wilful defaulters, the Supreme Court ruled that
Kingfisher’s petition was infructuous in light of the committee’s
decision, as reported by the Indian Express and others.
Verus
partners Krishnayan Sen and Rishad Chowdhury and associate Namrata Apte
had instructed attorney general of India Mukul Rohatgi and senior
advocate Dhruv Mehta for UBI.
